Yesterday, the ban on women serving in combat positions in the military was officially lifted.
The move was lauded by the Left and hailed as a victory for women’s rights. My question is: why do the liberals rejoice over letting women go to the front lines of the battlefield yet try as hard as they can to restrict the ability of women at home to protect themselves with a gun?
The irony of the situation is quite humorous. In the name of positive progress for women, it seems that women are made more vulnerable at home and free to go to the front lines abroad!
Ken Shepherd has it right:
I personally wouldn’t say no to a woman who wants to serve her country in combat. It is a brave and commendable sacrifice, no different than for a man. What bothers me more is the double standards expressed by the liberals in their praise of this rule change. I have to wonder, what would they say to an institution of a women’s mandatory draft registration?
